Freddie Quartley trained originally as a typographer and calligrapher, and began glass engraving in 1980. Her larger scale work includes church windows, but her special interest lies in engraving lettering. In 2002 she won the award for the best engraved lettering in an exhibition held at the Cork Street Gallery in London, and again in 2009 she won the lettering prize at the National Festival of Glass in Stourbridge, home of British glass manufacture.
