British Fashion Council reveals plans for London Collections: Men
— 23 January 2012
The British Fashion Council has revealed plans for a brand new menswear showcase London Collections: Men that will launch in June 2012.
A development of the prestigious men’s day at London Fashion Week, London Collections: Men will showcase iconic British brands alongside innovative emerging talents, as well as celebrating the rich cultural landscape that contributes to the inspiration and success of this sector.
Dylan Jones, chair of the Fashion 2012 Menswear Committee, will be at the helm of these plans, drawing together a committee of influential figures within the menswear industry including our very own Buying Director, David Walker-Smith. Also on board are Burberry’s Christopher Bailey, Tom Ford, David Furnish, GQ’s Jo Levin, Style.com’s Tim Blanks and Simon Fuller. The committee will ensure that the programme becomes a unique opportunity to see and buy the best that British menswear has to offer.
“I'm thrilled that London will host a mens showcase ahead of Milan and Paris for the first time this year" said David Walker-Smith. "From creative emerging designers such as Martine Rose, Christopher Shannon and Matthew Miller to the formalwear stars of London including E Tautz and Mr Start, London has so much to offer. At Selfridges we take very seriously our role within cultivating the landscape of British menswear, and we're delighted to be able to support London Collections: Men. I look forward to working with Dylan Jones, Jo Levin, Tom Ford, Christopher Bailey and the rest of the Fashion 2012 Menswear Committee on making this a landmark year for menswear, and for London."
Running from 15 to 17 June 2012, London Collections: Men is a vital addition to the fashion calendar and represents an exciting new direction for British menswear.
