Inside London: Beefeater cocktail recipes

Beefeater gin is a true Londoner and is named after the guards that protect the crown jewels at the Tower of London. It has called London its home since 1820, and to mark an extra special year for the capital, Beefeater has created the Inside London Edition, celebrating the inimitable spirit of the city.

Here's six winning Beefeater gin cocktail recipes created in and for London, from the Saint Clements to the classic English Bloody Mary.


SUMMER OF LONDON COOLER

A refreshing, long drink that is delicious on a sweltering summer's day.

2 parts Beefeater Gin
60ml/ 2 parts ginger ale
20ml/ 0.75 parts elderflower cordial (optional)
Lemon and summer fruits to garnish

Method
Pour the Beefeater Inside London Gin over ice
Top up with ginger ale
Add the elderflower cordial
Stir and garnish with a squeeze of lemon and summer fruits.

Highball or pitcher

 

SAINT CLEMENTS

Inspired by the London rhyme “’Oranges and lemons,’ say the bells of Saint Clements…”

50ml Beefeater Gin
20ml lemon juice
20ml orange juice
Tonic water

Method
Add all ingredients to ice-filled glass and stir

Garnish
Lemon and orange wheels

 

BRAMBLE

Created by Dick Bradsell at Fred’s, Soho in the 80s.

50ml Beefeater Gin
25ml lemon juice
15ml sugar syrup
10ml Crème de Mure

Method
Add the first 3 ingredients to glass filled with crushed ice and stir.
Lace Crème de Mure over top.

Tumbler or a rocks glass

Garnish
Lemon wedge and blackberry

 

 

RED SNAPPER

Gin is perfect in a Bloody Mary and Red Snapper is what it’s called.

50ml/ 2 parts Beefeater Gin
90ml/ 3 parts tomato juice
15ml/ 0.5 parts Worcestershire sauce
15ml/ 0.5 parts lemon juice (fresh)
3 dashes Tabasco
1 pinch black pepper (ground)
1 pinch celery salt
1 teaspoon horseradish (creamed)
Lemon and celery to garnish

Method
Stir all ingredients with ice until well mixed. Garnish with a lemon wedge and a celery stick.

ARMY AND NAVY

Signature drink at London’s Army and Navy Club, Pall Mall circa 1840.

50ml Beefeater Gin
15ml lemon juice
10ml orgeat (almond syrup)

Method
Shake all ingredients with ice glass and strain into chilled cocktail glass

ENGLISH SANGRIA

An English take on the refreshing and iconic Spanish sharing cocktail. Great all year round.

100ml/ 2 parts Beefeater Gin
500ml/ 10 parts white wine
50ml/ 1 part Triple Sec
100ml/ 2 parts ginger beer
100ml/ 2 parts apple juice (cloudy)
100ml/ 2 parts English Breakfast tea (chilled)
50ml/1 parts elderflower cordial
2 table spoons honey syrup
Lemon, orange and lime wedges 1 cup of apple chunks 4 sprigs or mint

Method
Half fill the jug with ice, then place all ingredients in the jug and stir well. Recap with ice if required. Serve individual portions with a ladle, making sure each has a few pieces of apple and some mint.
