All I've Ever Wanted: behind the scenes with Anya Hindmarch
— 30 October 2012

This year, the iconic corner window and three Orchard Street windows at Selfridges London have been created by British accessorises designer Anya Hindmarch, who has shared a glimpse into her design process with these original sketches.

Perfectly befitting of the Not Your Usual Christmas theme running throughout Selfridges this festive season, Anya has exclusively recreated the extraordinary All I’ve Ever Wanted contraption from her hit AW12 catwalk show.

The Santa’s workshop-inspired main attraction is an all-action feast for the eyes featuring Anya’s wondrously witty, glittering accessories - available inside the Concept Store and online. The all-singing, all-dancing machine is complete with toy trains, conveyors belts, jack-in-the-boxes, sparkling ferris wheels and a waterfall of jewel-like Quality Streets, which cover the floor of the display. The collection includes Anya’s Marano festive clutch bags which play music and snow, and the Tiny Tim satchel that lights up on command.

We caught up with Anya to discover her inspiration behind the project: “It’s the feeling you get when you peer through a children’s toy shop windows and you see all the presents with the promise of Christmas to come. Then there’s this Father Christmas’ workshop idea with a big machine. It was very much the dream to do it in a shop window and the Selfridges Wonder Room window is really iconic now so it’s a big moment for me - very exciting.”
Hear more from Anya and watch the magical display materialise before your very eyes in this extraordinary time-lapse film.
